Hi Y'all! I hope that you're all fine & dandy! This is most definitely not a beauty related post. I thought some of you might be interested to see the other things I get up to. I really enjoy making stuff...I don't do it very often, but I have been known to make my own cards and stuff like that, this is usually for special occasions as I don't have a very efficient set up, and not a lot of time either. One of my best friends recently had a baby and he is gorgeous! To mark the occasion Auntie Em (for that is how I am known at her house now...no longer Emma, we have all become defined by the baby!) decided to make a cross stitch sampler for the family to keep. Just to give you an idea of scale, this fit an 8x10 inch frame. It took me frickin' ages to complete, and I went wrong so many times, but I think it turned out ok in the end. Mummy & Daddy were really pleased with it (well they told me they were anyway...they could have been lying!!) and i'm glad I was able to give them something personal along with all the regular sleepsuits and cuddly toys they were deluged with. If you guys are cool with it I might occasionally go off on a tangent from the regular beauty route and let you know some of my other activities?
Have you guys made anything special for friends or family? I always like giving personal gifts for special people on special occasions, we might be able to share some good ideas?!
Love you guys,
Auntie Em xx
I would enjoy non beauty "tangents" very much actually! Please feel free to share :)
ReplyDeleteI like to make embroidered blankets for baby showers and births; I write the baby's name. It's a bit of work (especially with longer names like my cousin's son Pierre-Olivier!) but usually much appreciated, personal, and overall very cheap.
I also made all stationary and centerpieces for my wedding, great way to save money and to keep it unique :)
Thanks Sarah, I hadn't thought of the baby blanket thing....might give that a go, next time I become an "Auntie" to some other random child!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fan of the personalised bits & pieces for weddings, If I ever get proposed to by a hypothetical/invisible boyfriend I would hope to do the same....a bit of a cash saver I would imagine too! Did you take any photos of your handiwork? I would love to see what you achieved....I love seeing everyone elses ideas xx
